To perform a firmware update or factory reset for a Sony SRS-X88, connect it to power and insert the USB flash drive with the
update files into the DC-OUT ONLY (USB) port, then power on the speaker again, ensuring steps 3 to 5 are performed within 3
minutes. The update begins when the update button flashes. If your speaker isn't responding, look for the small, rear-facing
RESET button and press it with a pin.
Performing a Firmware Update
Connect to power: Plug the SRS-X88 into a mains socket using the supplied AC adapter.
Turn on the network switch: Locate the network switch on the back of the speaker and move it to the "on" position.
Turn off the speaker: Switch the speaker off once the (ON/Standby) indicator begins to flash red and the update button starts
flashing orange.
Insert USB flash drive: Place the flash drive containing the update files into the DC-OUT ONLY (USB) port.
Power on the speaker: Switch the speaker on again. You must perform steps 3, 4, and 5 within a 3-minute window.
Wait for the download: The firmware update will begin as the update button starts to flash. The speaker cannot be used during
this process.
Confirm completion: The flashing pattern will slow and stop when the update is complete, and the speaker will automatically
enter standby mode. You can verify the update's completion using the Software Version Check for Wireless Speaker SRS-X88.
Performing a Factory Reset (using the RESET button)

Press this button with a pointed object, like a pin.
The speaker will reset and turn off.
