Dear Sir,

Hi there..
Thank you very much for your answer. Very good service that you still do service on the DP-1. But it is made to last I see !! Great machine..
It sounds very interesting to have the drive checked, serviced, and if so upgraded.
How much would you approximately say the service would be, in the case I get the whole package ?
Or for each :
Service
New clock
New lazer
Upgrades
Shipping cost from Middelsex to Denmark.
I looked into the CD drive and saw that it do have a different clock than original, since the little clock is fitted on the motherboard with some kind of tape.
Also the drivebelt for the lazer was very loose, so I changed it with a rubberband (I know it's a bad solution, but it works for now).
Is it possible to damp down the lid in it's closing, it goes a little fast
now I think.
I will really consider to send the drive to you for service, but I would
very much like an estimate for the service, only a rough one you know.
I do want the remote, but it can be send with the DP-1 return from the service, if it (hopefully) comes to that.
I do not have the original package, but do think I can pack it> > responsefully in an alternative package.
I look foreward to your answer.
Kind Regards

Emne: Re: Roksan ROK DP 1, technical questions.
Dear Henning
The DP1 was discontinued about 1994. It is not easy to check if the unit has been upgraded unless you look at the clock system, digital output, power supply components etc and even then depending on when the unit was serviced these may vary. We do service DP1 transports and in the service there are upgrades available and updates that are done automatically. When the service is done the playability is improved because the unit will be reset and laser would be checked too. The DP1 takes about 5 seconds to read the disc and therefore it is likely that the unit requires servicing.
We do have remote controls for the DP1 and these are approx. 20-30 GBP.
The Philips remote will not work with the DP1 so do not buy this remote.
You can always send the unit here for service, however it has to be correctly packed for shipping.

I take the risk to try and ask for a response on my e-mail of 28'th of january.
If you don't deal with these matters of technical support it's OK, I> would like to know in that case, so I can get on with my "project".
Note : This is not a complaint, or a grumpy mail, only a request from a HiFi nerd without patience.

Hi there at Roksan
I feel lucky, since I have bought a used ROK DP 1 CD drive, and it's super !!
It beats my Rotel RDV 1080 ... a lot !!
I have a question to you though, hope you will take the time to answer.
Q : It takes about 10 sec. for the drive to read the CD, from the lid is closed, is that normal or should something be fixed. Once it's read nothing get's it "out of focus". It do also take some time to skip between numbers, 2-3 sec i guess, though
Q : It didn't come with a remote, is it possible to buy a new one, or do you have another solution for me on that problem. The former owner told me that I could take any Phillips CD remote and use that, since it is a Phillips drive that's in it. Would that be a possibility ?
Q : The former owner told me that the drive is upgraded with all the upgrades. Is there a way to check that ?
Q : The lid closes really fast, is there a way to slow it down, maybe with a resistance, another motor on the lid, or something.
Q : When did you stop the production and the sale of this great drive ?
Hope you find time to answer my questions, I really love my "new" drive,
Happy new owner
Henning
