The legendary musician Neil Young, recognised by many as the father of grunge and alt rock, has seen his San Francisco musical instrument warehouse burn to the ground.
The Canadian singer's work with electric cars has been stated as the cause of the fire, which occurred on Wednesday 17th November.
In a statement reported on the BBC website Young said the fire was caused by the charging system on his LincVolt car, a converted Lincoln Continental.
Young is passionate about electric cars and sustainable, clean transportation having funded projects for several years.
The singer's latest album 'Le Noise' was released earlier this year by Reprise Records.
Neil Young's career has been covered with accolades and acclaim, having been cited as a leading influence for bands such as Pixies and Nirvana as well as having many hits and recently headlining Glastonbury
